Hi all:

Following up on my work in digitally recreating the string ensemble/phaser
combination, I have posted a Csound orchestra and score that will produce these
sounds:

I have also posted many other orchestras and scores, for anyone who is
interested.

In the next few days, I hope to write up a page to accompany stringphaser.orc
and stringphaser.sco, that will be a more general summary of the "ensemble"
discussions so far, as well as some fine-tuning tricks I discovered while
working on the Csound orchestra.

One trick I have learned: Listen to the output of only one delay line. This
allows you to really tune in the proper amount of the faster (vibrato) LFO. Once
you have the right amount of vibrato, you can add in the slower LFO as needed,
by listening to the summed outputs of the delay lines. It is worth noting that
when only the fast LFO is used for modulation, the ensemble sounds horrible. WAY
too much phase interference between the delay lines - a strange fluttery sound,
which sounds MUCH faster than the vibrato rate (it sounds almost audio rate).
The slower LFOs eliminate this unpleasant interference, when they are added in.

I'd like to thank everyone who has given me advice, pointers, links, etc. so
far. This is by far the most helpful mailing list out there.
