Dual port RAMs are more expensive and may not be necessary in
Paul's application.  For example, consider a wavetable with a
free running address counter.  Rather than add another address
path to load the RAM, as well as tri-state buffers for the
counter output, just use the counter for both reads and writes.
You could just stop the counter, reset it, and then increment
it after each write cycle.

An SRAM with separate I/O is available.  Why add buffers and
the logic to control them?
