Yes, that's why I suggested to use a synched linear sawtooth to trigger
the sample & hold device, not the exp curve itself.

Input ------>
              Comparator 
saw(-t)----->     |
                  V
exp(-t)----->   S & H ---->  Exp(Input)


It samples exp(-t) and holds it when Input equals -t.
