OB-8 Question

Finally got a chance to open up my recently-purchased OB-8.  I was dismayed
to discover that a chip was missing from the processor board!  It is U17, a
6116-P3, one of the 2kx8 static RAM chips.  Does anyone know if this chip
is even used by the OB-8?  All of my program memories seem to be working,
in fact I can't seem to find anything amiss with the synth at all.
