Off Topic: Using scanner as FAX?

I apologize for the OT post.

I have a Canon FB-620 scanner that was cheap.
I would like to be able to send faxes with it but can't
seem to find any software to support this function.
It seems like all the hardware is there to do it.
Has anybody ever done this, or have a workaround?
