I left the trim out out on mine because it didn't make an audible
difference that I cared about, as the ring mod output is pretty wacky
anyway.  I would suggest making sure that the impedances seen from the
inputs aren't grossly mismatched (a few percent seems ok to me) so the
voltage offsets caused by bias currents tend to cancel.  This can
involve some extra switching of input resistors if you want switchable
AC/DC coupling on the inputs.
