I'm currently replacing my Doepfer PMS quad VCO (heated 3046) with ASM-1 VCOs (tempco resistor). The reason is mainly that the PMS VCOs consume too much power and generate too much heat. The consumption is 700 mA while heating up and 500 mA after that. There are other minor drawbacks with it too, that other heated designs might not have, so maybe other designs work better.
