current inverter

Hi all --

Has anybody looked at using a "current inverter" circuit in place of the
more common current mirror circuits, for example to use with an npn
converter pair to drive OTA's? An example schematic can be found on the
spec sheet for the Burr-Brown LOG100 log amplifier. Go to
http://www.burr-brown.com and search for LOG100, then find Fig. 10. The
circuit is similar to an old EN linear VCA control circuit, except with
the transistors turned around.
