I thought they had a pretty decent discrete VCO (with a heated 3046 expo
converter). My guess is that they have a sizable number of PC boards and front
panels already made for the CEM-based VCO,  unexpectedly ran out of the CEM
chips, and are now scrambling to find the parts to complete these modules.

Maybe this would be a good time to propose a joint Doepfer/Synth-DIY/whatever
run of one last batch of CEM 3340s...
