Very interesting project. I wouldn't expect authentic Leslie sound
either, since the thing is much smaller which will reduce (or at least
affect) the Doppler effect. But there might be many other possibilities.
Just a few thoughts: I'd place many microphones inside the cabinet, 4 or
maybe 8. Since the motor is variable speed, make the speed range as wide
as possible. Maybe even with direction control, the through-zero
modulation thing comes to mind. Don't know what the room contributions
will do, but I'd try different "wall" materials too. Maybe you could
also place a microphone on the rotor and have several fixed speakers in
the cabinet? The speaker on the rotor could serve as a low-quality
microphone at least. Acoustic Interpolating Scanner? ;-)
