I have a spare CEM 3394 that I kept in case one on the Six Trak died.
Since I sold my Six Trak, and don't have any other synth that uses a 3394,
I thought I might turn it into a monosynth.
Has anyone tried to do this?? Are there any special precautions I should
take??
>From the information I have, I'll need to build a +5V/-6.5 power supply,
and a scaling buffer for the input CV (it's expecting .75V/octave +4V to
-4V) and any other CV for which I add an input. I'll also have to add
voltage dividers to all the pots as none of the other voltage inputs are
expecting Vcc to Vee (or Vcc to 0), in fact, each input seems to have a
different acceptable range.
Afaik, these are the 20 pins:
1. Reference voltage for exponential converter
2. VCO CV
3. Vee -6.5
4. Cap for VCO
5. Modulation amount CV
6. Wave select CV
7. Pulse width CV
8. Ground
9. External input
10. Mixer Balance CV
11. VCF Resonance CV
12-15 VCF capacitors
16. VCF Cutoff CV
17. no idea, shows 4.7uF cap to ground
18. VCA CV
19. Output
20. Vcc +5
Finally, the 3394 doesn't have an LFO or an enevelope generator. Is this
project going to be more trouble than it's worth??
PEACE OUT :)
