Hmm.. I found that it did not really have that much of an effect on the
tone of the machine...  It still sounds like a $60 synth to me!  

Is there any way to adjust the pitch bend to cover a full +/- octave
instead of +/- a fifth?...

Maybe an effect of prying the frequency trim pot off the motherboard
with a pair of pliers, and wiring three long wires to the exposed metal
contacts :)
