It doesn't. Sound better, that is. The noise generated by the opamps in
your VCA is typically masked (and considerably so) by the noise generated by
other parts of the VCA, for instance, the gain cell.
Also, TLO72's are pretty quiet in the first place. Maybe you'd hear a
difference if you were replacing a bunch of 741's, but as it is, you'd
probably be better off spending your money on a nice meal or a movie.
The most important factor in getting the best noise performance out of your
system is *gain structure*. Keep those signals as hot as possible at all
times.
