Poly synths chips

  Nope. Voltage controlled LFO!

  Same as above. Cheaper than manufacturing a specific LFO

  chip. Worked very well.

Of course (lightbulb!) didn't think of that, but wait a minute...if 
your p5 breaks down and one of your vco IC is kaput then you could get 
the lfo SSM IC out and replace it as your VCO and make an other LFO of 
whatever type. 

Hhhhmmm how many SSM VCOs (P5) will drop out in 5 years, one? If 
that's the case you out of trouble unless the VCO is already replaced 
by the LFO. Is this done regularly?
