D-50 problem

Anyone on the list particularly familiar with the Roland D-50?  Mine has
a problem and no one I've spoken with yet has any ideas.

The synth is outputting some kind of weird, high pitched noise out of
the stereo and headphone outputs.  This noise is present even when a key
isn't depressed.  Oddly, when the next key is pressed the noise changes
in pitch and intensity.  It seems cyclic.

Does anyone have any ideas?  I'm hoping that it's not going to require a
complete mainboard swap - that runs over $600.  I can buy another D-50
for quite a bit less than that.
