well.... the problem here is, if you connect up a way-out DC offset to 
an input with a very low freq cutoff, it takes a noticeable time for the 
system to settle from the step input (which is differentiated by the 
input cap and ckt input R) and this could give an unwanted portamento
(though, judging by recent posts here and on AH, there is no such thing
as an unwanted portamento!)
