Rubber Contact Repairs

I tried cleaning the contacts of my memorymoog with alcohol and it didn't have an effect. 
So, I went down to the local electronics store and got a "rubber keypad repair kit" from
Chemtronics for $10.  It is a silver impregnated solution you mix together, good for 3
days, that you paint on the contact surface.  This seems to have worked!  Worked on my

Now.... what's your favorite method for polishing out wierd etched in dots on black keys
from some mysterious chemical....?
