I run MkLinux on one of my PowerMac 8500s. That allows me to use any of
the
GNU software tools. There are versions of gcc, g++, etc. for several
popular
microcontrollers including the 683xx (CPU32) family. If you want to
know
more about MkLinux, go to my home page and select the "PowerPC and
Linux"
link. My home page is at http://www.hsv.tis.net/~alvitar. It will soon
be
moving to www.xavax.com but I'll keep a forwarding link at the old
address.
MkLinux is basically the Mach microkernel running on a PowerMac with a
Linux
emulation layer. Kinda like NextStep except Linux emulation instead of
BSD.
