Multiple output ports on the Atari

Hi all,

Thanks for ALL the help on the above topic. This list is really the
best. Guido suggested I use a Soundpool MO4. This one runs off the
parallel port, all the others use the serial-232 port. The serial port
will always cause timing problems when the going gets tough, ie. pitch
bends, sysex and aftertouch. It seems the MO4 is the way to go for a big
set up. System Solutions sell them in the UK for 149 pounds.

As for BJs design. I found that the inputs to the 74HC138 were exceeding
the supply voltage of the ic and doing some horrible things to the
outputs. A few extra diodes and a 5v1 zener clamp on each data input
soon stopped that. It works a lot better now, but there is still
occasional timing problems for more complex compositions. So I will buy
an MO4 and tell you all how I got on.
