I can only speak for the OB-8, though I asume the OB-Xa would be similar (?).
Storage, smooth action of the knobs. Knobs work in "relative mode" until you
hit one end of the range, so no parameter jumps. I know I repeat myself, but
these people knew how to build a "perfect" synth.
If you want a polysynth without patch storage, get one of the Yamaha CS synths.
No storage (well, sort of), but the best user interface ever.
For converting the JU-60, get service manuals from roland for both of them
if you really want to do it. But why not trade the JU-60 for a JU-6 and probably
get some extra money out of the deal.
