First, the memorymoog - anyone have a spare knob in great shape? I also would like any
advice in keyboard contact refurbishing. I've gone through the AH archives and people
have used various forms of alcohol, water, deoxit, erasers, silver etch coatings, pencil
lead, etc. etc. There is even some repair chemical offered by a company in New Zealand.
But what REALLY works and lasts a long time? For totally hopeless cases I wonder if you
could cut up one of those pcb ESD bags made of conductive rubber. It seems resistance
across a contact surface would be around 1K which is not low enough for the standard
circuit, but maybe you could increase the value of the existing pull up resistors to make
it work. Mine - I'll start out with deionized water and see if that gets me anywhere.
Just opened the keyboard area up last nite. Surprised to see this is the culprit as the
upper 1 1/2 octave is fine. But a resistance check tells all.
And on the DIY get-together thing. How about someone put together something on a web site
that is interactive so we could enter our address/etc. or at least regional area in case
we want to contact others nearby or are willing to offer help to those around us. I'd
like to get some kind of idea of just how many of you are around me (Orange County,CA) and
have been thinking of looking into using WDC's meeting area for a get together if there
are not too many restrictions against it.
On the interactive survey - suggestions:
city/state/country
phone #
areas of interest
programming ability: DSP, uC, Visual Basic, etc.
valuable abilities: pcb layout, analog design, FLPGA programming....
wants/needs
(don't send this stuff to me!)
