Modern analogue architecture OR anyone wanna open their FR777 and take a look for me?

I have spent a lot of time speculating as to what manner of electronics
are found in modern analogue shit ie FR777, Omega Series, etc.
was wondering if anyone here was more knowledgable in this area.  Do they
look mostly like FatMan and such ie off the shelf opamps, transistors,
mounted on throughhole board?  Or do they use surfacemount?  What are the
components like?  Off the shelf?  Application specific (Linear Devices and
such)?  Many ICs? Many transistors?  Anyone care to help enlighten me?
