digital I/O Q, VC-panner, etc.

I remember some talk a while ago about digital I/O cards. I need a card
with digital/optical in and out. The only card I've found is the
Soundblaster with the I/O option daughterboard. Some other cards have an
output, but no input. I definitely need both, as I want to be able to go
from DAT (still to be purchased), MD, CDR, computer, and Sampler with no
degradation. (Maybe I'd even need a digital patchbay.. yeesh!)

Also, I've done up a simple schematic for a VC-panning module with LEDs.
(LEDs light and dim according to the amplitude of their output; ie with
an LFO they pulse inverse to one another) Very cool, adds a lot to the
nifty blinky-light effect of a modular. I'll try to breadboard it soon
but no promises, finals are coming.

A get-together around Boston would be nice. We could try to visit the
media lab, or maybe make a run up to the synthmuseum.

later,
Andrew
