Actually, the MIDI spec reserves 7D (125) for homebrew work. According to
the spec, it's for "schools, research etc." It is not intended for products
with intended public release, since if you're selling, you should probably
get your own ID.
7E and 7F (126,127) are the "Universal System Exclusive" message IDs, for
non-real time and real time use, respectively. The 7Es are used in the
sample dump standard, and 7Fs are for alternate tunings.
