hello from the land of pointless bombing campaigns.
sorry about that i need to bite my tongue more often. anyway i am almost
finished with the webring experiments. so far external sourcing the script is
working well on my website. later tonight i will try it between 2 different
sites, it should work. i have decided to keep the control buttons separate
from the script so you can place them anywhere on your pages. you can put a
set of buttons on every page if you want to as long as you include the pointer
to the script inside the <HEAD></HEAD> tags of all pages with buttons.
once i'm satisfied that it all works i will e-mail the list with the HTML to
paste into your sites + instructions. in return you will have to email me your
site's URL so i can add it to the lookup table in the script. that officially
enters your site into the ring. none of this will harm your site.
as far as graphics i will still have to create a banner of some kind to
advertise the ring. this could be a simple GIF with a logo or something of
that nature. if any of you can design graphics and have a good idea for a logo
let me know. i suppose it might also be more appealing to use graphical
buttons instead of standard browser buttons. if anyone wants to take a shot
making graphics for the buttons or banner go for it. there are three of them:
NEXT, PREVIOUS, and RANDOM. please try to keep your graphics on the small side
bytewise.
the next thing we need to figure out is what standards do we use in deciding
who gets in the ring and who doesn't. talk amongst yourselves ;). i propose
that a valid site is one that has at least one whole page devoted to synth-diy
content. not a overly tough requirement i think. let me know what you folks
think. i'll have a demo up later tonight for you all to test drive. take care.
Mike.
