So your'e the one who'll make the PCB...
and I thought it would be me :-(
as for ssm2164 - it won't work.
Well, it will, but not as a scanner. I.E. selected input will be muted,
while all others open. Simple rearangement of control voltage polarity
can fix it. But still it's log CV response, probably not suitable for the
scanner.
How about discrete VCAs?

DIY-PCB list - I was one of people who suggested that, coz I thought
it was a good idea. If list members don't mind diy-pcb posts then
good bye diy-pcb list. (but wouldn't it be so cool to have one devoted
ony to pcb?)
