Didn't the original poster (Paul?) say that the files were already in wave
format? If so maybe I could have a go at them with MatLab (a math's
package). This can read in the wave files and then it would be easy(-ish) to
write a script to analyse the frequencies and try and decode the bits and
bytes in there. Then you could even plot them to see if they look like waves
and play them back.
