Then he could easily put bulk order, and get them cheaper. same goes
with other hard-to-standarize parts.

Yes, it has expo CV input, and no way to make it linear, unles
include expo-2-linear converter. When I tried to make ssm2164
linear response, I ended up with discrete OTA.
BTW. I thought DIY-PCB posts would be managed as quasi-mailing list
by
Roy Tate's mailbox, (off synth-diy) but I didn't get my previous
post broadcasted.
