CA3080 overload

thanks everyone for helping me suss this one..
I had NO IDEA what the peak signal from a guitar can be
(near enough to infinity!) and I was indeed zenering the inputs of the 
3080 (5v differential input max) with bad effects, saturation I guess
which took quite a while to clear. Put in a couple of red leds
(i had a bucketful from someone who was making moving banners years ago)
to act as 1.2 v clippers, all well now!
