True. That's why you OCR the scan to recover the text.

That's because PostScript is a threaded-interpetive language for imaging
and typesetting. Did you know that you can't go to page 100 in a PostScript
document and print it? That's becasue the whole thing is one big computer
program. The RIP has to run the program until it gets to page 100, then it
can print it. With a big job file this can take a while.

PDF is a language similar to PostScript, but with some of the kinks ironed
out. Like being able to go to page 100.

It's nice to be able to put multiple drawings/pages into on document, and
not have the text take up a lot of space and still look good scaled or
printed. That's the idea, anyway.
