First a quick personal introduction: I've been lurking on this list for
a year or so but I think the time is arriving for me to build that
modular synth of my dreams (fade to child poring over the plans for some
modular monster synth in an electronics magazine [tho' I can't remember
which one it was any more]). I'm mostly interested in controlling the
beast from a wind controller (I play a Yamaha WX-11 w/ a VL-1m and some
occasional Oberheim Matrix-1000) but I'm also interested in
computer-generated music.

Anyhow, brief intro over onto the verse:

Amen to that one. My biggest problem (right now) with most of the
(wondrous) schematics that I've found at various sites is getting hold
of *any* information on the semiconductors they use. None of my data
books or suppliers have heard of half the chips or transistors these
circuits use (same goes for a lot of the stuff in The Art of
Electronics, bless its little cotton sockets).

Are there any readily available (and cheap-ish) data books that list
equivalent parts? or, better still, are there any on-line equivalents
sites run by any of the manufacturers or distributors?

Happy tootlings,

// Conrad
