I had the same problem when I 've built the MCV-1
In the Dutch version they had used the correct PCB layout but they used the
wrong resistor value on the MIDI-IN side (I believe they used 22k or 220k
and it should be 220R)
There was another mistake but I don't remeber it completly.
At least the MCV-1 should now be able to receive a message :-)!
