   Sure, that's half the reason why I have whole synthesizer service 
manuals on my site!  My argument for the statement I made about obsoleted 
parts was in reference to designs aimed for the DIY novice, as that is 
what this whole discussion has been centered around.
   Obviously there is definately a point to having data sheets for these 
obsolete parts (which I do add when I get the chance)!

   Mostly CEM stuff really.  Anyway, the point you make here is that many 
of the parts are common.  I.E. there are a ton of similar/equivilant 
parts.  I don't see a point in anyone maintaining datasheets for these 
kinds of things.
   I think that a more useful thing would be a good cross-reference sheet 
of compatible parts.  Then it should be fairly easy for someone to go to 
a manufacturers site and pull up a datasheet.

   Certainly a list like this (with cross-referenced compatible parts) 
would be worthwhile!

   Heh, and here I wondered why we get so annoyed over on the AH list 
when people don't go search the archives first...
