Since I bought my first Minimoog in 1974, I've always known it was correctly
pronounced "Moh-g", with a long O. Nevertheless, I always pronounce it
Moo-g, and will continue to do so, simply because that is how the name of
something that makes *that* sound should be pronounced. The Moog shock
absorbers, or that baseball player, Andy Moog - those should be pronounced
"Moh-g", but we're talking about a synthesizer here, folks. Synthesizers
don't go "Moh-g", they go "Mooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooog!"
Apologies do the illustrious Dr. Whatshisname, of course.
