I've been busy lately....

I think that the keyboard I used was one of two found at an electronic junk
store a few years ago. They were still packed in shrink-wrap against a
cardboard backing. They were a little bruised (j-wires bent a little, from
being stacked with other junk), but they were easily put back into perfect
shape and the keys themselves were perfectly new and free from any
scratches. Very shiny. These types were the kind of mechanical assembly
found in, for example, a Moog 950/951, old ARP 2600, etc. Plastic key
surfaces on metal channels with rubber j-wire guides, single bus. These are
a bit newer since they have the diode board for digital scanning - they were
probably bought from a liquidation of the old Oberheim factory, maybe used
in OB-X or OB-Xa. Oberhiem was located a few miles from here, and I've seen
Oberheim stuff in this junk store before (not very good stuff, like bender
box unstuffed PCB's or some other useless thing).
Regarding the noise switch, I'll probably leave it as is. Just a
preference... post processing like flanging and phasing seems to work better
if there's some hiss in the signal. Actually I think I'm done with the mods,
at least for now.
And the ribbon - I'll try it like this for a while (linear seemed intuitive
to me). Does a CS-80 ribbon have a non-linear response, like as you go
towards the higher frequencies you need more distance travelled for the same
musical interval?
