Hi --

I experimented some with different timbre modulation schemes a while (25
years) ago. There are plenty of circuits available -- get the old
Electronotes, or even just the PCC. Timbre modulators are not all that
interesting, because the effects are generally too subtle. Filters are
much more useful. The only timbre generator I  kept was the double pulse
waveform generator, which gives fundamentally different harmonic
structures than available from the usual tri-saw-pulse setup.
