My ADDSR needs a DIY spotlight bad :-)

but seriously, I think the best way to weird envelopes is
something similar to what I did in my addsr, and also
Juergen did in his HADSR, what can be short described
as stepping voltage through variable lag circuit.
Maybe without any start or end point, say 8 stages, each
has independent level and slew rate (8 joysticks?)
while steps are clocked by foot pedal or lfo.
When 8th stage ends, 1st one begins.
I have more ideas, but they come faster than I can write
in English
