A while ago Paul P. asked me to do the korg esp (thats external signal
processor) voltage to frequency converter. I tried a time or two, but when
I realized it was hz/oct I kinda lost interest. I was going to continue to
work on it just for the fatman club but as posted earlier I have lost
whatever I had that made it work.
All is not lost however. JRD sells the LM331 for $3.49 it's a little pricie
but I think I can get this one done. The LM331 is a voltage to frequency
chip that can be configured as a frequency to voltage converter. As you can
see from the schematic it doesn't take much to get it going.
I still have stuff to do to the input, maybe a compressor or hi-pass filter
to cut down on bad tracking. But it works and it works at 1v/oct.
The sample was done with the jp-6 hooked to the input and a static vco
connected to the v2f output. The vco was tuned a little higher and the
output of the vco was mixed with the jp-6 so it's easier to hear the f2v
tracking.
What do you think Paul?
