   I really appreciate Don's variation of the scanner, but "much more
   attractive" hurts. The original version does not require transistor
   matching at all, btw.  

By "attractive" I think he was referring to the tasteful use of color
in my output plots.


My recommendation would be to:
  use JH's scanner if you want linear transitions or don't like
  matching transistors

  use Don's scanner if you want want exponential transitions or
  control over the transition shape

  use the multiplexed scanner for circular scanning where your control
  voltage sets the scan rate (instead of scan position)

I can see plenty of uses for all three.
