Solder/flux debate

Kester 331 is a very nice solder and the cleanup is with warm water,
followed by a DI or distilled water rinse. A little compressed air is
good for blowing off the boards (sans ICs), but this is not an absolute
requirement. Letting the boards dry completely IS a requirement before
powering up. (A bit of water underneath a socket can cause much
strangeness!)
As for the regular flux and the "no clean" variety, they are OK but the
boards don't look as nice. I recall also that the no clean stuff did
not solder as well...
Regards.
