another beginner

Hi List,

First of all, I would like to thank those of you who helped me last time I
posted questions, it was regarding my broken scope.  I have not replied
personally because I have not found the time to work on my scope.


Here is a new question:

I am a bit confused about polarized capacitors, if they are in a circuit
with alternating current, how is it that the polarity does not change and
ruin the cap, is there something really obvious I'm missing?
