I was shown a prototype of a box called the "Control Freak" when i
called into Kenton Electronics a few weeks ago.this is similar to
the box you describe . It has about 8 or 10 sliders on the front
panel which can be assigned to any midi parameter.it also has
presets for loads of commercial synths so that you can recall
say,the Alpha Juno 2 setting, and the faders are then preset for
filtercutoff,resonance,adsr etc.
Of awesome potential to modular synth owners though is that it has a
cv-midi socket on it which too is assignable to midi
parameters....this could mean that my analogue sequencer could play
sequences into Cubase,or be used as a modulation
controller, trigger samples etc..the potential seems endless.
cost is estimated at 200UKP ...i would buy one now if i had the
money.........
