I use the trigger outs from my roland drum machines to step my
analog sequencers. This allows me to make rhythmic patterns that
change with different drum patterns. Add trigger outs to a 606 and
you can step 7 sequencers. The only problem then is that a 606
doesn't have shuffle like a 909 does. I am planning to build a
trigger sequencer. A 16 step sequencer core with several rows of
toggle switches then send it all 16 from the 909 so it has the
swing. Then you can use each of those switch rows to step other
sequencers.
The other solution would be something like the kit MAP sells that
converts midi notes to triggers. This could be used to not only
step sequencers along, but also to reset them and other logic
things from computer control. I imagine this would lead to many
many analog sequencing possibilities. Like patterns that are
shorter or longer than the length of the sequnce set on the
sequencer, but you can then have the computer send the reset pulse
allowing for more creative fills and breaks in the action.

Gur I have some smaller sequencer designs I have built. 4017s.
