pitch shifting....the analog way???

Hi list...
just wondered if there was any way to pitch shift with analog stuff...Even
octaves would be cool... but up and downwards... I think upwards exist(like
in guitar pedals) but what about downwards??? i'd like to apply this kind
of things on voices etc.. so the frequency divider (like in doepfer
A-series) doesn't work because it only produces squares... am i wrong? (i
hope :-))

ok..so if anyone's got any info about that.. let me know...
