Apologies for any confusion I've caused here. What I was trying to get at
was the fact that the Breath Controller is parallel to the Mod Controller.
it can control the same parameters though with different sensitivity. This
means you could test the control you want with the Mod Controller and then
use the BC to do the same. I think I was trying to avaoid confusion that you
could do something with the Breath Controller that couldn't be done with the
Mod Controller - it's just the same thing really.

I've not tried it myself but have seen something somewhere on the web where
this was done. In fact I think the guy was charging 10 dollars for a box
with a pot, a knob, a lead and a jack plug! It might be possible to identify
which pin is which on the Breath Controller input with a multimeter. If I
get chance I might try and work it out on my old 4-op (YS100) but I'm away
for a few days and won't be able to do it until next week.

Incidentally, there's an editor for 4-op FM synths at my home page along
with some patches - these are just SysEx files renamed to *.YA1
