Hello all. I tried to search the archive to see
if these chips have been discussed before but
I consistently get a message stating that the
server doesn't perform searches. oh well...
the 8038 is basically a VCO with triangle, square,
and sin outputs plus adjustable duty cycle. Don't
know how it would work in the VCO department
(stability etc.) but it looks like an easy wide-range
VCLFO.

The 8048/8049 are a log and antilog (exponential) amplifier,
respectively (maybe vice-versa). They feature
adjustable offset and scale, and claim to be fully
temperature compensated. Definitely intriguing.
Sorry, I forgot to copy down the url, but if you search
harris and icl8038 you'll quickly find the data sheets.
(luckily the part #'s are so close or I never would have
come across both). dave moylan
