Hi guys -

Thought you guys would be interested -
I saw a new film that came out on Monday called "Modulations" - it's
basically a documentary of Electronic Music as it relates to the techno
/ rave culture. As there's a lot of ground to cover, I felt it didn't
get into nearly enough depth on any given topic, and it could've been a
lot longer, and would've had a lot more impact in a theater with a
pumping sound system :). I would've loved to see some of the old greats
in the studio, or being interviewed (Kraftwerk, Brian Eno, etc.) - but
no such luck. OTOH, they it did have interviews with such folks as Kevin
Sauderson, Bob Moog, Derrick May, Jaun Atkins, Alec Empire, Autecher,
Squarepusher, and a zillion other classic DJs and techno / house
producers. They cover just about every style of modern dance music as
well as whatever historical references are made by the modern guys - ie
disco, Stockhausen, hip hop. No mention of the progessive rock pioneers,
however. It's currently showing at the Quad Cinema in NYC, and is
apparently touring the country or showing around other cities.
Definitely worth checking out if you're into that stuff.

On another topic, a friend of mine was telling me about this thing that
some guy demo'ed for him. The guy demoing it was from the UK and was the
guy who built it (I didn't get his name). Apparently it's similar to a
Doepfler MAQ16/3, and he called it the "Notetron". Anybody heard
anything about this? (Disclaimer: for all I know this thing has been on
the cover of every e-music gear mag in the past 3 months)
