Assuming you have no hi-tech equipment,
just take a couple of alligator clips to an amp input, with a capacitor in
one lead (say 1 microfarad non polar).
then join up to one side of the speak and spell battery, and one of the 3
mystery wires going to the speaker.
This gives 12 options, one or more of which will be better than the others.
