Paul's idea for a pitch extractor is a good one. A few more ideas:
- Nonlinear circuits. Serge Tcherepnin came up with some good ones;
according to him, he was inspired partly by fuzz boxes, partly by the
Buchla stuff. These can be really simple, but are really cool.
- Nonlinear filters. Check out the latest Computer Music Journal for
details.
- VC phaser. Maybe a cheap design, using the 4069 as 6
voltage-controlled resistors, and 6 op amp phase shift stages, plus
input and output buffers.
- Frequency shifter. OK, there is no way to make this cheap.
- Resonators. Check my page (http://www.seanet.com/~costello) for a
good design. Maybe replace Vactrols with your own photocell-LED
combinations.
Otherwise, you've got things pretty much covered, as far as I can see.
Having lots of filters is very nice. Man, I need to get that diode
ladder working! (Curse these clumsy hands!)
