No, it doesn't violate copyrights, because the original article was
printed in EN#83, which had no copyright notice on it, and was
originally printed before documents were automatically copyrighted. It
has no copyrights. Even if the article was copyrighted, you could use
the data within it, as long as you attribute it to the original source
(this is more concerned with academic issues, plagarism and such).
BTW, did someone end up taking down a redrawn picture of an Electronotes
oscillator off of the web a while back? Copyrights for the Electronotes
stuff, if it existed, would only cover the original drawings. You can't
copyright a circuit. Redraw it, and you are home free. Be sure to
attribute the source for ethical reasons. In the case of the
oscillator, the original source would be Electronotes, although I
believe that for the VCO in question the bulk of the original design was
done by Terry Michaels (correct me if I am wrong).
Anyway, thanks for publishing the RC products. I am going to try to
create a software frequency shifter/barberpole phaser in Csound soon,
and the data you listed will be very helpful.
Sean Costello (who bought the whole $265 dollar set of Electronotes from
Bernie Hutchins, and highly recommends doing so to anyone on this list -
but I just hate people abusing copyright law)
